I think you can freely choose where you are doing the challenge. I am doing it in VS code and I guess you could also do it on Kaggle. Whatever is more convenient for you. Just have the code ready in case of inspections. I have my code hosted on GitHub and I do a commit on every submission so I can track my progress and have the code of old submissions too.
